WHAT SUMMER CAMP IN THE HAMPTONS IS MEANT TO BE

What is East End Explorer Camp?

East End Explorer Camp is a premier outdoor immersion summer camp in Southampton, NY,  for children ages 5–13. Our mission is to connect kids with nature and inspire lifelong environmental stewardship through exciting, hands-on exploration of the marine habitats of the Hamptons.

Campers dive into a full week of kayaking, boating, fishing, crabbing, clamming, beachcombing, and marsh exploration, all while discovering the rich ecology of our local waterways. Alongside skilled guides and educators, they learn about marine science, aquaculture, and coastal conservation, gaining both confidence and curiosity in the great outdoors.

A highlight of the program is our exclusive collaboration with the Stony Brook School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences, where campers join researchers aboard the RV Peconic to study local marine life up close, an unforgettable marine science camp experience that blends adventure with discovery.

East End Explorer Camp offers kids a Hamptons summer camp experience like no other, blending wild adventure, hands-on learning, and meaningful connection to the natural world.

Typical week

Day 1
Kayak Adventure & Oyster Farm Tour
We kick off with a scenic kayak excursion to tour the local oyster farm and Conscience Point Shellfish Hatchery. After the tour, we’ll head to Hideaway Island for a hands-on encounter with marine life, catching, observing, and learning about the incredible creatures of the bay.

Day 2
Mudflat & Tidal Creek Exploration

A kayak journey into Serenity Pond, where kids will stop at tidal creeks and mudflats to investigate marine habitats. Expect lots of muddy fun, quicksand explorations, playful splashing, and unforgettable nature discoveries.

Day 3

Estuary Expedition

We’ll explore Scallop Pond, the historic Port of Missing Men, and the rich ecosystem of the Sebonac estuary. Campers will discover tidal life, hidden creeks, and the unique history and ecology of these beautiful waterways.

Day 4
Marine Science Boat Trip
Aboard the RV Peconic with Stony Brook School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences, we’ll explore Shinnecock Bay. Campers work alongside real marine scientists, trawl the bay, and use scientific instruments to study local marine life—an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at marine research.

Day 5
Tide-Driven Adventure
Where the tide takes us! Depending on conditions, we’ll set out for marsh exploration by kayak or cruise the waterways aboard our camp boat, The East End Explorer. Each trip promises new discoveries and close-up encounters with our dynamic coastal environment.

As a small family-run business—and as parents ourselves—safety is our top priority at East End Explorer Camp. We keep supervision tight,  ensuring close, personal attention at all times. Our camp is fully licensed, insured, and staffed by CPR- and First Aid-certified educators and lifeguards.

Every boat is USCG-inspected and operated by licensed U.S. Coast Guard captains, providing top-tier safety and peace of mind.

Designed for ages 5–13, our Hamptons summer camp offers a full week of exciting, hands-on experiences that blend marine science, coastal ecology, and outdoor adventure. Campers enjoy kayaking, crabbing, clamming, marsh exploration, species identification, fishing with nets, and aquaculture lessons—all while building skills and confidence on the water. We also focus on boating safety, environmental education, and, of course, plenty of fun playing on the sandbars.

Each camper receives daily snacks, an official Explorer Camp sun shirt, and an Explorer hat—perfect gear for a week of adventure and exploration under the sun.

Whether your child is new to water adventures or already loves exploring the outdoors, our program offers a one-of-a-kind marine science camp experience in the Hamptons—combining water safety, environmental learning, and outdoor fun for an unforgettable summer.
